Hello everyone, Going through my world coins and found some old Canadian coins, little by little I'm looking these coins up on Google for info. This 1953 Canadian penny appears to me to have a faded shoulder strap but having said this, according to some info I found on Google this one should not have a shoulder strap on it because of where the word DEI is the I is between the the marks above right? I would appreciate your thoughts. Also can someone tell me if this is a Elizabeth II small cent? Thank you
Yours is a No Shoulder Fold. https://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins-prices.php?coin=1-cent-1953&years= The part that gives it away that it is an Elizabeth II small cent is where it says "ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA" on the obverse....also the smaller size as compared to earlier Canadian cents (pre 1920)...
The I of DEI is pointing between denticles and is a rounded I. Therefore it is a NSF cent. https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces433.html
