I have this 1952 D Wheat Cent and was not sure exactly what type of error this is? I do not think it is an RPM since it does not represent a D mintmark as much, but it looks too uniform to be just a cud or something else along those lines.

Thanks for taking a look! Also, thanks for everyone who has answered my coin questions these past couple days, you know who you are, it is greatly appreciated! Very welcoming community.

Not a cud as that would involve the rim. I'm leaning towards some shifted metal from a hit because the bottom of the 9 does not look right as is. Maybe someone else might think a weird die chip but does not look like it to me. Therefore my answer is PMD.

Possibly, better answer than I could come up with. Thanks for responding!

52' was synonymous with variety's. Lot's of MM problems that year. Must have had a rookie running the MM punch in Philly. One of my favorite is the "Winged D". The MM had multiple die chips that eventually made the D look like the wings on a Merc Dime,

Haven't seen that before, but it sounds awesome haha. Hey, a rookie making the coins benefits everyone else if errors come out of it right? lol

It could be a small die chip or crack but I think it's PMD. Looks like the metal took a hit and a small piece of metal moved. Over the years it became worn down to what you see today.

Just so I understand, does PMD stand for Post Mint Damage?

    Yes it does.

Based on your photos that's what I think it is. It really doesn't matter. If it was a Mint error it wouldn't bring any extra in price or maybe a dollar.

Hard to tell from the picture, but is that a die chip by the R in LIBERTY? and is that 'line' raised coming out of Abe's ear? Oddity by the G in GOD as well. But could just be shadows.

I thin the ear is interesting, I don't understand where the "mass" came from all surrounding details are present (marie, rookie coin collecter)
