I came across this 1952 D cent which had die damage. If you look at the reverse it is showing a mirror image of the word TRUST from a obv. It looks like the lettering and spacing is correct. How did this get here? If someone punched this in themselves it seems like that is a lot of work for this, let alone it is mirrored. Your comments on this would be greatly appreciated.

That's post mint damage. Not damage to the die.

Thats not an error its a vise job the other damage and inverted, backwards letters clearly shows it.What happens is a person squeezed two coins together with extreme force and it left an impression, why did he/she do it?only the person who did it knows. Its just a heavily damage wheatie and still just a cent.

It looks normal to me. Someone punched it in. It's not even oriented with TRUST on the obverse. Who knows what evil lurks in the minds of people who deface coins? The Shadow knows.

Looks like a vise job. The image is incused and backwards.

As the others have stated.. Squeeze job.
    Done post mint.
Not a mint error of any kind.
And yes.. Mean people do mean stuff to coins.
Why? Because they are simply mean!

Welcome to CT. You got good answers to your post and hopefully will learn as you go.
Many people believe they have mint errors when in fact it is just a damaged coin, or pareidolia. Good luck in your future finds.

It's inverted at the 6 o'clock position on the reverse.

Vise job all the way. That's why "Trust" is backwards.

For anyone still unsure from the poor images, here is a lightened version of the OP image, clearly showing the reversed letters and the imprint of the rim from the other coin

Perhaps it's the "accident" that makes this coin important enough to put in one of those little coin holders.

As in, "we used two pennies to finely tune the level of the first space shuttle on the ground when it was being built. After the project was completed, we moved the shuttle and the pennies were smashed together. Everyone involved wanted the pennies. So we all drew straws for who gets to keep the pennies that were mashed by the weight of the first space shuttle being built".

Or it was the first nuclear submarine being built, or the first commercial jet liner, or.....

And this is one of the two pennies found back in circulation.
