    Yes the coin is beat up, but more so the dies were over used, this is a form of die deterioration.
    It is called progressive indirect die transfer.

    I think the coin you posted is a nice example of PIDT. And in my opinion has a lot more educational value than that pretty thing in plastic.

    If I ever found that genie in a bottle, and they were to give me an extra wish, I'd wish coins and currency could tell us their story. Boy, wouldn't that be something?

    Yes that’s what I think of when I see a coin that age, wear and tear. Like the war nickels, thinking of those days. Yes if they could talk.
