It's a worn die or machine doubling. Really common on Lincoln cents.

Could also be a hit which caused the soft copper to move giving it the appearance it now has. The upper right of the D on the bottom is more squared and the top D is damaged on the left. As Idhair said, it's common.

The letter behind the D in GOD is another D. What else could it be?

You said in the original post there is a letter behind the D in GOD. I gave you my opinion and stated why. You said you were lost so I tried again. As I see it the letter on top of the D is another D. Since there is damage to the D it looks to me as if the D were moved from its original position thus creating a D on top of a D. If you see another letter which letter do you see? I only see a D, one on top of the other and both are damaged as described earlier. Copper is soft.

Ok I get that now but who is to say the top D is damaged and not the underlying ? Thanks for clarifying !

It is Worn Die doubling you are looking at.
There is no D over D or any Hub Doubling.

Although we know numbers and letters can be displaced by PMD to appear as error anomalies but the OP’s coin is just as other members have stated: caused by Machine Doubling IMO.
