Your opinions on what may have caused the black horizontal marks on this coin?...I passed on the coin, but now I'm looking at the MM.

Doubtful, notice they are parallel and appear to be on the surface, but thanks.

Still beautiful. I love those halves.

What has me worried is the giant scratch right down the middle of the reverse (unless it is a strikethrough, which I doubt). It should not have graded. But the MM is interesting.

Although interesting it isn't an RPM. For this date and mm there's only 1 and this isn't it.

Seems to have doubling on many of the letters.
    E Pluribus Unum especially.

Doesn't mean that there aren't others that are unreported.

But looking again, it appears to be the lighting.

From the first look I could tell that.... and yes there are new discovery varities but after that. Any years out of the mint the chances are slim to none.

It looks like the mint mark is doubled. Does anyone think the same?

The source's slabbed coins even have problems.
