1947 D penny.

  1. I have a collection of pennies I've found that are pretty old and in pretty good condition and this is one of them. Unfortunately I couldn't get a great shot of the front but for some reason the obverse shot is way better. Please let me know what you think of it, I got it in a roll of pennies and found it very pleasing.

It's a nice looking 1947 D, but nothing that really makes it worth a ton of money. They made about 195 million 1947 Ds.
Did you read something that makes you think it's worth more than 10 or 20 cents ?

  4. No not really. And sorry forgot which way was which. I just found it pleasing as 1947 d and that it was found in a roll I had and what not. I personally enjoy how well it is despite it being in the open for so long.

Nice find in circulation. My AU book would benefit on that find

They don't really have any big retail value, but they are nice pieces of history to have.

    Here are mine,

It's interesting to note that younger people have a tendency to think that a coin like this 1947D is old! Thanks a lot! I was born in 1947.

  10. Well it's old for a penny, pennies usually dont last very long in circulation. And since it's been in circulation for 72 years.

  11. I also own a collection of steel pennies about 30 of them. 10 or so are in pretty good circulated condition and some I feel are near AU

You don't want to know what I was doing when I was 14.

I hear steel pennies are quite valuable in auctions

My wife was born in 1947 and she is not old either. In fact, I knew that a long time age when on her 25th birthday I gave her a Happy Quarter Century card.

I was born in 1943 and have saved all of them that I have found. That's a lot of steel pennies. I have never seen any big market for them.
