I got this in my change when I bought something at an antique mall the other day, I saw it was just a wheat cent, so I put it aside. But when I looked it over, the 4 in 1946 appears to be a strong die-error/die-crack. Can anyone tell me if that's what we have here, and an approximate value? The reverse appears to be 2-3 degrees off rotation when compared to the front as well. Thanks. baff.
post mint damage only. that coin took a hard hit that moved some metal and created the divot behind the line. Richard
Thanks, I was suspecting that as well, thinking the high spot wore down and got shinier as the coin circulated.
just because two coins that are post mint damage look similar doesn't change the fact that they are post mint damage. Richard
I found this 1946 canadian coin today. Thought it was kind of interesting. Was wondering if this coin has an error on it. The 1 looks like a 7 and theres something else on the upper left hand side which looks like the same design as the inner lining of the coin. Was wondering if it may be worth anything.
