Quick question. I just received in my latest silver bullion purchase a few 1946 & 1947 Roosies. Are either of these dates rare or semi rare dates?
No. I think the 55's have the lowest mintage. 49s too, but we are still talking many millions of dimes.
I don't think there's anything that's considered a rarity or key date in the 1946-1964 Roosevelt run, unless it's an obscure variety or a conditional rarity. I bought a roll of BU 1955-S dimes during the last big silver run-up. I paid melt for it, and I expect to get melt for it when I sell it. (I took out a couple of them to fill out books.)
Unless they have exceptional color, a desirable variety, or are very high grade (high MS), the amount of effort you will put into trying to squeeze out a couple extra dollars won't be worth it. IMHO.
