I’ve been away from the coins for quite awhile but going IMG_9177.jpeg IMG_9175.jpeg through some today and found this odd looking Lincoln. Thought I’d share it because it’s snowing.

I think the obverse would be considered Woodgrain toneing AKA Woody.
I don't think the reverse would be considered the same, although it is toned.
The reverse toneing may be from the coin having been in a folder/book,
due to the dark ring toning on the reverse.
It is a very nice uncirculated coin.

As I understand, woodgrain is a characteristic of the base metal and should be visible on the obverse and reverse.

The ring on the reverse makes me think that it was the end of a roll. And the yellow tone is probably from a heavy mixture of shell casings. The mint used spent shell casing from the war to mix the new copper alloy for cents from 1944 to 1946.

Wait! There’s a duck on a Lincoln Cent?
