I was pleasantly surprised to find this in change today. I'm going to guess it was put in circulation from someones collection for it to be in this grade. I think it would get MS-62 if I were to grade it what do you think? always nice to find silver in change.
If it doesn't get AU58 for high point wear, I would expect this to get higher than MS62. The coin is really pretty clean and is a solid MS64 IMO.
high point wear was my thought on the bust but in hand I don't see much wear where you'd normally see it so my thought was maybe a weaker strike or later die state however I'm no expert. There aren't many hard hits but there is the beginning of corrosion on the reverse on the word Monticello. I really wish there were more people that live closer to me to show me in hand about grading because I've never been much of a book learner but more hands on.
Progressive Indirect Design Transfer: A form of die deterioration that manifests itself in the form of a “ghostly” image of a design element on the opposite side of a coin. The force of a die strike travels through the planchet and into the opposite die. I'm not really sure at what point die deterioration starts affecting grade.
