To my knowledge, nobody knows for sure which civilization constructed it, as it was already in ruins when the Aztecs came. </p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p>On the obverse, the coin depicts the Pyramid of the Sun, which is one of the 2 large pyramids there, along with the Pyramid of the Moon. A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of exploring the complex and climbing the Pyramid of the Sun.
