Hello, so I found a 1944D OMM, D over S. Im talking about the one that is clear as day, not the one with just a tip of the S showing. The coin itself leaves much to be desired, but it's not the worst I've seen. Without a picture, I know it's difficult to give an opinion. I see where I may be able to get 20 bucks for it, in its condition. So, is this another put it in 2 x 2?

    Without pictures it's worth 1c.

Lol. Sorry about pics, not feeling well, so no pics tonite. I probably couldn't even get the camera focused on the error itself, but it is very clear. Thanks.

Well then this is pointless without pictures.

What do you think the coin will grade?

are we talking about a cent or a quarter ?

Sorry, I didn't make that clear. It's a Lincoln wheat cent. As far as grading. I doubt it. There's environmental damage. But that OMM is so clear, they would have to verify it's authenticity.

Here are the pictures. I would like to have it restored because the D/S is so clear.
    But its pretty rough looking.

Can you take clearer pictures? I don't see the OMM. Nor can I see any of the die markers listed on variety vista

EDIT: I am also unsure what you mean by "have it restored". Your coin is pretty well circulated. There is no way to "restore" that.

Well, if you enlarge it, you can see it, at least I could. Its thr most clear thing on the coin, ha, ha. It's the 002 variety on Variety Vista. Well, I was reading the restoration process on PCGS, and they get rid of the verdigris, etc.
But, after looking at my pics up close, it's probably not worth it.

I can't match up the MM position. Probably just some debris or die chips.

Well, I'm terrible at taking phone camera pictures. But, I showed it to both my adult kids and they saw it clearly. Well, thanks folks, I will 2 x 2 it and move on. Thanks again.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I just enlarged the picture on my phone manually, using pics I sent you, and the error is pretty clear.

The MM position is not the same. Its hard to look past all the debris surrounding the MM, to see what you are seing. It is real close to the correct position. But if it is not, then it is not the same RPM. And the position does not fit either of the two listed.

Innteresting, and sorry about the debris, I have 3 animals. Well, these omms and rpms are unique considering they were stamped by hand, right? Hmmm. Now I do wonder. I will try to get a better camera and photographer to snap some pics, at some point.

They are unique in the fact they all have to be in the same place on the coin. When mint marks were put on by hand they were applied to the die, not the coin.

Well. I just took another look at both variety Vista's omm pics for this coin. You are so right, it matches neither picture. Well, I'll just add a ? on the 2 x 2. As always, I learn something new each time from y'all. Thanks.
