I think that this coin has several errors. I have placed it next to another 1944 penny, to the right, that seems to be as close as I have the standard.
The penny on the left seems to have a die rotation Clock wise from vertical.
It is a little off center with the 'L' in Liberty at the edge.
The lower leg on the 'L' is missing along with the 'I' in Liberty.
Double die seems to show in Lincoln's bow tie and the last 4 the the date.
Thank you for allowing me to join and learn from all of you.

I don't see any Doubled Die on th tie.
The rest is a worn die strike issue and decades of circulation wear.

What about a 1944 wheat penny with a sideways Y on liberty but no other apparent errors elsewhere?

First, welcome to the neighborhood, BGQ!

It would be best if you started your own thread and add a close-up of the area in question. I'm guessing that it is probably post-mint damage (PMD), but I want to be sure. ~ Chris

Don't assume that anything that looks different on an "old" cent is an error.

I understand. I am in my 80's and had my grandson tell me what he saw.
I should of done what I did today. I purchased a camera for my computer so I take a closer look myself.
I do not know if it is an error coin or not but the bust of Jefferson shows differences from other 1944 pennies I have.
I would like to send some better photos showing it in comparison to another.

Yes to a worn die and plenty of circulation wear. Welcome to CT.

Bust of Jefferson? Surely it's a bust of Lincoln.
