I think one problem is (besides scarcity) people always want to believe their 1982-D small date copper is real, or 1944 steel or 1943 copper etc. But you have to start with doubt. You have to figure out all of the possible ways it could be fake. Never start with the idea that it is real, because you just talk yourself into it. Once you start with the idea that it is fake (which is always a million times more likely) and eliminate every possibility, then you can open the window a crack, that maybe it is a miracle, once in a lifetime coin. There have literally been thousands of threads here about super rare coins, and the person always thinks it is real, and so far it is a perfect 100% against. (And I am not talking about a post where a genuine 1943 copper is shown, etc.) I am referring to: I found this in my change, I bought this on EBay for a dollar, I found this in Grandmas coin jar that has been collecting dust for 50 years in the basement, SO I KNOW IT'S REAL.
If this coin comes back as genuine I'm guessing no one will ever hear from the doubters for a long time. Some of them don't seem to be able to say sorry I was wrong. This coin has a chance of being a real 1944 zinc coin. People on here judging the coins imo. needs to stop being such doubters of what the coin owners says and learn to listen to what is said because they have the coins in their hand to examine.Except for the ones that are damaged enough to easily see in the photos.
rascal i do agree with ya 100%.....irs like this group just waits too cut any coin down......coin collecting is very special and for some people too be negative is crazy....but if it does come back as a real 44 cent.....betting i wont hear from them doubters hub
@rascal @israel f I couldn't disagree with you more. There is not one serious collector on this group that would not be overjoyed to be proven wrong if it benefits one of the posters here.
I am not negative. I am just telling you something you don't want to hear and are in denial of. Look at the coin I posted. That IS DEFINITELY the same coin. Here is what PCGS will say about your coin if they do slab it...
kentucky...every person that is new, or post new pics. that is getting into coins....and i challange ya to go and look at all post.....is either wrong in so many ways or just down right put down...about possible findings....as a coin hunter all i can do is hope....and go off as much research as my brian allows me too.....so with that....ill hope its real....and not for the money....just for the rarity it self.....happy hunting to all
jcro57....in earlier post u said you had 3 of these coins....can u post pics of all 3 side by side?you posted 1 earlier that looked like it was of a website...
I was not talking about the serious collectors , Just the very few doubters that tries to down almost every thing anyone puts on a new thread. It is just plain silly in my opinion .
You finally followed through with ignoring the truth, I will await the same decision of ANACS as you will. There is no doubting that it will come back Fake, and not even a convincing one.
Darn it I misspoke here . I meant to say steel cent. This old age thing may be getting the best of me.
They do both look alike, meaning they both look cast. They could be struck on a cast planchet, I guess, but it would have had to been pretty rough to still show voids after being struck.
@israel f ...the members who gave you advice gave you the truth in order to help you avoid deluding yourself. And avoid wasting time and money. The point is: you can be aggressively sanguine all you want but you need a dose of common sense to go along with it. Spark
@israel f If anyone on this forum is known for providing evidence of what I claim, and for "getting back" to people when I find out something new, it is me. I have a great reputation on here. But don't take my word for it; ask around. In contrast, you come off as uninformed and obstinate in the face of the facts. The experts who gave you opinions are not guessing here; they have knowledge and experience where as you obviously have very little and seem to be proud of it. I don't need to prove anything more to you, and if I do, it's only going to humiliate you (or possibly open up your eyes to the truth and you achieve acceptance, but we all doubt that will happen given your nature so far).
