    Worn Die Issue.. even on Foreign Coins

    I understand that but there is actually strips of metal on some of them that shoot out from the outer corners of each letter to the edge

    Yes I see.. that is what happens with a worn Die

    Certainly does. Sometimes the design of the coinage adds extra stress to the die. A lot of our oldest coinage shows these type of stress cracks
