What is the value? Fun Fact: The penny was made steel due to copper shortages during WW2.

It looks like it is in at least XF condition. MS-60 is worth $5 I believe. So it could be worth a few bucks. ;)

I don't know... so many of these have been plated to get that "new, uncirculated" look, and this one looks a tad to "shiney" to me.

Unfortunately, even in that condition, those are pretty common. I wouldn't expect it to get more then a buck.

My shop sells them for, I believe, $5.00 for a set of 3 in Unc. condition. I'd expect anywhere from $0.75 to $1.00.

Actually, it was made of steel because the nation's supply of copper was needed for the production of items, i.e. shell casings, and bullets, etc., during the war. Many other metals were also allocated by the Government for use in war materials for the military, zinc, and nickel.

That is also why they started making nickels out of silver between 1942 and 1945.
