This 1943 Steel Cent came out of a Wheat Roll. Is this an error? To me it looks like it has a weak double is several places, but this is my first week in the world of coin collecting. I kinda feel like my brain might just be filling in gaps and making me see dirt and damage as shapes. This came out of my first purchase of five Wheat Cent rolls on eBay. I've been learning about Wheat Cents and mint errors over the last day or two (and will continue to do so for the next year or two), but so far I can only identify very obvious doubles. Close-up of the S in TRUST Looking at the left side of the E and the R in LIBERTY. Looking at the 9 and the 4. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
First, welcome to the neighborhood, @turtlebird1981 ! I don't see any error on this coin. It just appears to be struck from a worn die and well-circulated. Since you're new to the hobby, I have to tell you that rolls that are purchased on SleazeBay have probably been searched, and it is very unlikely that you will find anything significant. Any seller who claims that his coins are "unsearched" is a liar. Chris
As the grand old dame on "Are you Being Served" used to say, in regards to @dwhiz and Chris, "And I am unanimous in that." Steve
For a beginner you take really good pictures! Welcome to Cointalk! Here is a great website dedicated to all kinds of error coins I want to share this website with you - http://www.error-ref.com/
