I found this old steel penny missing the 4 in 1943 just wondering what that is and if it has any value besides 1 cent

Thanks in advance for all your help

damage from zinc corrosion on the surface. Some will pay a little more, maybe 5 cents or so. Ebay, maybe even more :)

A lot of 1943 cents also have a weak 4...I would think in general it is caused by a weak engraving of the 4, as well as some possible debris in the 4 that year.
But as stated, your coin looks like PMD.
    Keep up the hunt!

sorry for saying that, but that wont be a high value (like what you wanted to, I guess) Only about 15 of them are known to exist. Beware that there are many fake 1943 copper pennies. If the penny is in a condition like yours, it's worth almost nothing. If you have another one like that with a better condition than you can make about 200,000 dollars.

I think you are a little bit confused here. This isn't the 1943 copper cent, the OP was referring to the absence of the 4 in the date. Nowhere did they say they thought the coin was one of the rare copper 1943 cents.

ow sorry, I had a copper penny in a condition like that so I thought it was a copper penny. But if you ever find a copper penny from that year you will make a loottt of money with it :p

That one has a small content of silver in it unlike the other coppers. They aren't sure where it came from yet.

The OP's coin could actually be a missing 4 "ghost" cent that also has corrosion damage in the same spot.
