Yet another numismatic spelling error to appear in a news article... https://koaa.com/news/covering-colo...-on-display-at-colorado-springs-money-museum/ So, when quoting Mr. Mudd, KOAA wrote planchets as "plangents." Just thought I would share.
I think someone just corrected the word in that article. “Some of the planchets, pieces of metal made into coins, got stuck into the old hoppers from the previous years... "
When I was a kid, ads were offering $10,000 for copper 1943's. And then not too long ago it was under 100K. Are they really worth a million dollars now? I thought the last one sold for around $250K.
At least one has broken the million dollar mark. Checked, the unique 1943 D copper cent sold back in Sept 2010 for $1.7 million.
I think you misunderstood my earlier post, I was agreeing with you, and joking about how I assumed this thread was related to a a fake listing on eBay.
And of course: penny, penny, penny! It goes well with the media, which is stupid, stupid, stupid and, for good measure, stupid.
