Oh dear heavens no!! That is a common date Mercury dime. Maybe a five dollar coin. Not sure where you may have seen that cost from. But that is stratospherically inflated unless it may be a pristine MS69 or something of that nature. An average circulated 43 Mercury should be in the five dollar range.

I've got a huge pile of Mercs like that. Big discount if you take 10, half-price at $450 each.

Man, there is some REALLY bad info out there!

I'm sorry. I just don't buy it, either the coin or the story. Can't possibly be true.

You are to cynical. The OP is a newbie and obviously doesn't know. He needs our help. You should be more helpful and provide positive feedback. Rather then come to your own unjustified conclusions, you should ask to OP.... Maybe you could learn something.

The OP did not say that this coin had a $900 price tag, but that one like it (I assume "Luke" is an autocorrect mistake for "like") was priced at $900. It is possible the one he compared it to was a 1942/1.

Exactly, and you won't know until you ask the question.

With the utmost respect to @Randy Abercrombie this looks like it's been cleaned, has lots of scratches you can see once enlarged. Less than a $2.00 coin. IMHO.

You can get a 1943 Philadelphia mint (no mintmark) dime by buying junk silver and it may even look better than this one. A very common date.

    Too cynical? Maybe.
My unjustified conclusion? How do you quantify my conclusion to be unjustified? I may be just as correct in my conclusion as you.

@Randy Abercrombie your Etsy comment sounds plausible.

For that price they could throw in some Jr Mints.
