Found this coin in a trunk, in a coin book had been there for 40 years coin is covered in plastic I believe it is an FS 801 has all the right markers .when you look at the coin it does cartwheel. but it is also darker and as shiny . has only one small Nick on the reverse should I have this coin graded! or what do you think the grade is now please help
Interesting, that certainly does look a lot like the PCGS example https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin/1943-1c-ddr-fs-801/569289
I agree with @furryfrog02 . You should send it in and have it graded. It's hard to grade coins behind those plastic lenses.
Do you plan on selling or holding in your collection? If planning on selling, MS63's are selling from $13 up and my opinion, no grading due to costs involved. If the latter, you have to decide whether grading and slabbing is worth it. Just my opinion.
Even if her coin grades MS63, it is the attribution of the FS-801 that is the money maker. At MS63 and the correct attribution that is a $350 coin.
It very well could be but don't send it in for grading now. The graders are closed due to the virus. Welcome to CT.
Welcome to CT @P Diane. What a great looking coin and neat find. Your photos are excellent. Thanks for posting. As for DDR, these old eyes can't see it, even on the PCGS coin, so I can't comment. Good luck with it.
