1942 Mercury Dime - Cud??

    While looking through my inherited Mercury dimes, I came across this oddity on the reverse of a 1942 no mint and I'm not sure what to make of it. I think this would be considered a cud?? I am NOT an expert however and would greatly appreciate some help and insight from everyone!

    A "cud" by definition can only be connected to a rim of a coin. Might be something else significant though. The experts will surely chime in.

    Kind of looks like solder where a pin might have been attached. Welcome to CT, wait for more opinions.

    I agree with old solder material. It was part of a piece of jewelry. Not a mint error of any kind.

    These are considered true cuds -

    They occur on the edge of the coin.
