1942 D Nickel

    I received this in change yesterday. Is this a horizontal D? I would say its ''fine''. anyone know its worth? Thanks. Its a 1942 I didnt think the obverse was relevant

    I don't see a horiz D. Maybe a picture through a magnifying glass would help.

    Anybody got a pic of a horiz D? Just like to see what it looks like.

    There are only eight known uncirculated examples of the D/Horiz.D 1942 Nickel. Circulated ones aren't especially rare and in your condition, might be worth $35-50, if real. You need at least a 10X loupe, if not a microscope, to see the mint mark overstamp. Your picture just doesn't cut it. Even in this photo of an uncirculated example you can not see the mint mark clearly enough to see it's a D/D.

    Thanks Davidh. As I said I got it from change the other day. How would one know if it is real? And also, are all 1942 D five cent coins D/D?
