I was messing around on eBay and picked up a 1942/1 dime. Just wanted to get a few opinions and I will be sending to get graded by pcgs so please try and guess the grade! Thanks!

Beautiful coin--I guess you bought it attributed?

Details Cleaning. Looks like hairlines all over it from a cleaning. Very nice coin though!

Still send it off to get certified as a genuine overdate. Still worth a lot of money as is.

It's still a great coin, even in a details slab. I have a 42/1 and 42/1d in ngc details slabs with old ANACS photo certificates and they are two of my favorite coins

Yeah I always try to pick up the rarer more sought after coins. I got a 1921d walking half the other day too. I just think I paid a bit too much for this dime @ 980

    Unfortunately it's been harshly cleaned.
I'll guess it comes back UNC Details.

Thank you for your opinion. I was thinking unc details myself.

That's MS, going away. Forget the hairlines. The surface still has character. Get it in a slab, for the attribution, and to protect it. Let them put whatever label they will on the slab.

Please refer to my comments in the other thread you created regarding this coin. Did you look at the reverse? Is the die scratch present?

I just bought the coin yesterday so I didn't get a good look at the reverse die scratch. The coins looks real for sure. Once the coin arrives I will take better pics

Do you mean it could be a counterfeit?

I sure hope it's not a counterfeit coin...
