Is it yours? Where did you find it? They have altered versions. https://www.ngccoin.com/news/article/5150/Counterfeit-Mercury-Dime/ Not to sure about your Dime.
So you're smart enough to establish an account on this forum, take great pictures of your coin and you can't research the internet for a value? Is it yours? Where did you find it?
It’s mine. I bought it at an auction. I am not confident in valuing condition of coins and I see a wide range on the value of this coin. I was just hoping someone with experience could give me an idea. It’s my first purchased error coin and was curious if I got a good deal.

What did you pay for it, and why did you decide to get it if you don't know it's grade or if you were overpaying or not?
Condition is an issue, it appears to be about VG-10. You could check Ebay sold auctions for a price. If it's real, yes $400.
I paid 425 which was approximately what I thought it was worth based on my limited knowledge and internet research. I have not had anyone look at so I thought I’d ask on here to confirm.
Well, if it is real, then you did not do horribly. And it would be a cool coin to have so.... What you might do is go to some shows, take the coin with you and ask a few dealers what they think as to the grade. Some dealers are pretty nice about sharing their thoughts. Especially if they know you are not looking to sell.

Perhaps this isn’t the best place to go with my questions. I am a small collector with only a few years experience. I didn’t intend to irritate.
Michael, Thank you for your kind response on the condition. This was the information that i was hoping to receive. That’s helpful.
Rule one. If someone else might be irritated over something I said and I am not bothered by saying it, then it doesn't matter to me 99.999% of the time. There are a few people on here I do respect enough that if they get irritated by what I've said, then I have to, at the least, re-think whether what I said was the best way to say something. Rule two. If I keep things 50s TV safe and such, I am generally in the clear with the mods. Rule three. I'm awesome and that's 80% of what is needed.
Welcome to CoinTalk Kristina! This is normally the best coin forum to ask coin questions on, so I hope you stick around! Some here can sound gruff at times, so just keep in mind that many of us are old coots! I'm happy to see your dime as I've been wanting one forever but when it comes to errors, I won't pay much! The reason being, I've overpaid in the past.
