Ok, I believe I cherrypicked a 1941 S SDO-003 from a coin show yesterday. I can see the RPD on the 41 with the naked eye (does not show well in pics) as well as the serif splits on the 1 and the LI in Liberty. What I am having trouble with is attributing the MM large/small/"trumpet tail". I am thinking it is the small S. Hope the pics are adequate.

It is a small "S" mint mark.

Thanks coop, that is a nice comparison pic. Any dispute or confirmation on the Over Date features?

The image isn't real clear, but I think I see die flow under the lighter area of the image. It makes me wonder if something is on the surface of the coin?

Yes, there is some sort of staining from a fluid like substance to the left of Washington. Also a lot of microscopic green specks - thought that may have been PVC damage.
