Would the price of getting this graded through PCGS be worth it? For instance, if it will only increase the value by the cost of getting it graded it will not be worth it. And finally, what is your opinion of this coins value being raw?
That's a very nice rpm too! I'll have to add it to the list of things to look for. That is getting to be a very long list!
Wow, that's the one. It definitely needs to be in the plastic with an attribution on the label if you're wanting to sell it. Just the attribution will propel it well-beyond the price guide on the grade. The bands aren't full, but it will still get a decent grade, and the main event is that attribution, not the bands, not the grade.
I'd send it in if the variety would increase it's worth substantially, otherwise I see it as a MS-65 making it a $20 or so coin and not worth the cost of submission.
I'd see what the going rate for that coin is before sending it; submission fees aren't cheap. I think it's a pretty clear one as is if you're looking to sell it on CT, I don't think you'd need to attribute it since you took very nice photos.
Great coin, I can hear it say please grade me. Clearly a 1941 S/S 10C RPM FS-501. Population 5 on ms65 and 3 on MS66 PCGS I would grade it at 65+. Very close to FB, the middle bands separation is kind of maybe full band, depends on the person grading. I can see a full separation but who knows what can happen. PCGS puts a price of $175 on ms65 and $300 on ms66. I would definately get it graded, let it be all it can be. Very nice coin, I love it. Personally, I would get it graded and hold on to it and as always, IMO
I heard a rumor couple years ago that with stuff like this you send it in have it graded. Then when you get it back send it back in to get it attributed. The theory was they tend to NOT want to put to lofty of a grade on such a low pop coin. Nice RPM by the way.
