Sorry it was just easier for me to start a new one. Plus the previous was during a time where I could not take pics. I can look at pics of others all day long to compare but I still want people who know more about coins to give me their opinions.
thanks guys for seeing through the crappy pics and telling me what you think. This is my first error/variety find ever.
No apology, just a helpful hint that I sometimes forget about looking at. I am just glad you finally nailed one. Evidently you have been looking for a long time. I think it is a rather tough one to find.
Well when I started that last thread about it it was for this coin just couldn't take pics. I've had it for a few months now. Just another reason I love searching nickels . Thanks for helpin me out my coin knowledge is very small.
you are correct it is a rare find you'll find many small and large s 41's, The 41 S inverted S do carry a nice premiums in MS and AU
It certainly looks possible going off of the Cherrypicker's guide photo. Great find. Keep up the hunt! Added: CPG says $25 in AU 50. Can't quite tell the grade of yours. Also keep in mind the the CPG is just a guide. More accurate pricing info can be found in completed ebay listings.
I agree with both of ya!!! All that need now is if you want a Tpg Expert to Detail it and that mean$ money. :smilemy2c.
Hate to be a buzzkill, and I would be happy to be proven wrong, but I don't think it is the inverted "S". Compare yours (especially the first picture in the second set you posted) with MMS-002 at the Variety Vista mintmark style web page. Several things suggest that your mintmark is normally oriented. First, the lower loop on your coin is larger than is the top loop. Second, on the normal orientation, the lower serif is slanted so that the bottom corner of the serif is further to the left then is the top corner of the serif. This shows up well on one of your pictures. In addition, because of the shape of the lower serif, the upper corner of the serif should be further to the right when inverted (the "upper" serif should be slanted to the right). On yours the lower corner is further to the right. Hope I'm wrong, but a few things to consider.
When I compare it to the one listed in the variety book I have it looks just like it to me but I'm no expert.
The Inverted mm 1941 S on left and yours on right. I do see a placement difference, as the one on the left looks closer to the building and the steps. Geepers, I don't know. What we need is a real good image something like the one on the left. As far as getting it slabbed, I dunno. I would be more sure of it before doing so. I have other varieties that are in similar condition and would not pay for the plastic.
One easy way to tell if you have an inverted mintmark is to look at it upside down. I should look normal. I copied your picture and flipped it below. See what you think. EDIT: sorry, should say "IT should look normal", I already do.
