    Hi guys,

I have this 1941 D Lincoln Wheat Penny and would like to know what is going on with the top of the Reverse of this penny. There is a ridge on the upper part and the metal sinks down lower and is a different texture.

Could it be a strike through?by the E

I thought delamination? but I'm not familiar with the strike-through error. I wouldn't know what to look for

Looks porous and not much if any metal gone. I am thinking something acidic, so corrosion.

It looks connected to a die crack that runs through "E" and under "P" of "E PLURIBUS", then runs under ON[E]. I'm guessing "No" on corrosion.

    Not a lamination, imo.

    Photos are very dark, but
    as P & G says, this looks
    like corrosion or chemicals
    on the reverse.

My knee-jerk is a lam. But look at those letters. There's no way this is a lam, as a lam would have mangled those, some, and they're intact.
