Hey guys just wondered how much a retained cud would be worth on a 1940 S? I also have 3 1940 S lamination errors. One is like really gouged so not sure if it would be lamination just wondered what they would be worth? First pics retained cud reverse, Second lamination reverse, third lamination obverse lincolns arm, fourth lamination through date.
Hi James, They all look like lamination errors to me. And minor ones also. The Red Book does list these at $3.00 on Lincoln Copper 1¢ pieces. Very hard to determine a value on these errors, as they are all different. You can research auctions or E-bay Sold items. IMO they do not bring a high value until there is major disfigurement of the coin itself. Here is a helpful link for Errors. http://www.error-ref.com/cuds/
Thank you, i did look them up on ebay and i seen a couple others advertised retained cud for the one i said is retained cud wanting anywhere from 8$ which that one sold to 39$ which isn't sold. But it was in the same spot and everything.
Sounds like fun. Just don't take all E-bay postings as fact as to what type of an error they may call it. I have heard of a "Retained Lamination" but have not heard of "Retained Cud".
Yeah on that website you shared with me i searched retained cud and it is that indeed. Check out the retained cud with vertical offset. Or just retained cud in general.
Hey no problem thanks for the replies. I bought a tube of 1940 s cents for 2$ and noticed them 4 in it so i would say i got a good deal.
