    Hi guys,

I have this 1940 S Lincoln Wheat with Ridges on the rims of the Obverse and Reverse of this penny. The edges also have bumps all around this penny. What is this?

It's definitely man-made... someone may have hit it with a screwdriver or something

That was a high school shop class experiment. Bored kid with hand tools.... Not a mint error at all.

If someone did alter this coin intentionally on the obverse and reverse, how would they get the metal soft enough to cut away at it so nice and neatly?

It's pretty easy... take a screwdriver and hit it against a penny... you'll see what happens

PMD. Appears to have been done with side cutters. Why? Who knows.

Yes I have seen these altered coins on Etsy. The people on Etsy use the coins for art projects or jewelry.
