1940 penny error?

    I found this penny in an antique shop and upon further inspection the outer edge of the penny is deformed, could this be a minting error? And if so, is it very common? IMG_20180321_210759_01.jpg

    Without a reverse view, it looks like it was possibly in a holder for jewelry.

    I checked the backside, nothing appears out of the ordinary, would you still like a picture anyway?

    Thank you for the reverse photo. Your coin looks like normal wear. With some extra on the obverse.

    The left wheat ear looks like it has full detail. I'm thinking the coin is a weak strike.
