Well what ? He said the coin was raw, so there is no grade to reveal. And he said the he agreed with the AU 63 estimate.
Well, first of all I don't agree that if it is raw it doesn't have a grade to be revealed. It still has a grade. Since he is the only one of us to see it in hand and has vastly more experience than most of us in grading jeffersons and AU 63 isn't a grade and wasn't one of the poll choices, and assuming lehigh would only post possibilities that would include his opinion on the grade the "well" would be, "well, what would lehigh vote on in the poll" sorry I didn't spell it out.
Byron, The coin is AU58, there is some high point wear. And I don't consider roll friction an option for the Jefferson series. However, my photos make the coin look so good that it would pass as mint state most of the time. A dangerous coin for sure. Let's put it this way, I paid MS63 money for the coin based on equally deceptive photos on the Bay. Oh well, caveat emptor!
Thanks, that's what I thought I saw, just wanted to see how close I was, I picked AU58 because of what looked like wear over the ear, the first place I learned to look on Jeffersons, I agree about roll friction. I have some sliders in my set too. It's a very nice coin, wouldn't mind having it myself, don't have that variety. Got your PM, I will get back to you probably next week sometime.
