1939 Jefferson

  1. Opened a roll of nickels and was rewarded with a 1939. Wow, if coins could talk.

    That is not a bad looking 1939 P for face value. Congratulations!

    Now, you need to find one in similar condition with the DDR :)

    Too bad it's not the double Monticello. The one I have has some letters doubled on the word Monticello and on five cents. Keep looking.

    You know, people have laughed at me when I suggested starting young collectors out on Jefferson Nickels. Why? Because with the exception of the 1950 d (and maybe the 1939 d and s, although I have found them in bank rolls) you could probably put together a full set solely from coin roll hunting. And the keys can be purchased for MUCH less than the keys of Lincoln cents.
