    Decided to give this one a thread of its own. Going through a few of my nickels ran across this one....wondering your opinions of it's grade, it's a reverse of 38 so wavy steps. It's a very cool variety since it's the only obv. doubled die on the 39 D. To my eye it looks to be a tripled. What do you think it would grade? 1939 D Jefferson 717 obv.jpg 1939 D Jefferson 717 Rev.jpg 1939 D Jefferson 1.jpg 1939 D Jefferson 2.jpg 1939 D Jefferson 3.jpg 1939 D Jefferson 4.jpg 1939 D Jefferson 5.jpg 1939 D Jefferson 6.jpg 1939 D Jefferson 7.jpg

I see what looks like a 65 to me. It looks pretty free of marks with decent luster. Nice find Paddy!!

Condition-wise, I'm in the gem camp. Market-wise, I still see it in gem, but that distracting spot on the reverse is going to keep it in MS65 I think.

I see the nice triple and would shoot straight at 65. Very nice piece Paddy!

Nice find! Coin looks gem to me but has a strange luster profile that is more common on San Francisco minted Jeffersons. I say MS65 with a decent shot at MS66.
