Hi Everyone! I found this 1939 Wheaty in my Circle K change today. I think it is in remarkably good shape for one in circulation. I added a view from a slight angle for detail of depth of attributions. Testing may emerging grading skills, I would say Extra Fine-40? Too optimistic?
There are a few bumps and bruises, that's to be expected for an 80 year old coin. The grade XF 40 you gave is on the mark in my book. This coin was probably returned to circulation by a non- col- lector recently. Nice find.
I agree on the grade. Close enough. Great photos, by the way! Isn't it cool how finding something like this can make the hearts of adults like us beat with excitement? Our joy in just finding things like this far exceeds the monetary value. Steve
The photos are great, How did you get them to look so good. I tried on another forum to get info on a coin and my image was nowhere near this quality.
You run the risk of the coin turning an un- natural color (usually pink) when using acetone on a copper coin.
Welcome to the neighborhood, and happy belated birthday one month ago. What branch did you serve in? Very nice photos and fun find.
