Why do some people think that lamination cracks are die cracks.. Cracks me up @Jimm It's a Lamination Crack as others have stated.. That would be a Planchet flaw issue not a Die Issue. A Die Crack would be raised because the metal flows into the crack on the Die when it sttikes the blank planchet.. A Lamination is like a peel on the Planchet and has nothing to do with the striking of the coin with a Die.
Photo ONE and Photo TWO are two different coins. Look at Photo One, the partial coin at the bottom is the lamination coin. note the letter T in 'trust', where the lamination shows.
Talk about "garbage in, garbage out." Just a batch of heterogeneous copper alloy. Considering the amount of alloy consumed, it was bound to happen periodically.
In defense of those of us who opined die crack, lousy blurry photos do not help to identify anomalies, so, ease up.
I think I told *Jimm* a long time ago that he should take up a different hobby. My suggestion remains the same.
Photo #1 and photo #2 are different coins. #1 ^^^^^^^ #2 vvvvvvvv How do you explain the last two photos? Corrosion and a cud on the first and the second????????????
Of course they’re different. The color shows that as well as the coin itself. I’m sir the OP was trying to show the difference in what they thought was a crack and no crack. But as I said, it’s not a die crack, it’s a lamination. Many members said the same and a few of them even said it was 2 different coins. What’s the problem?
As @Bill Dong pointed out, technically he did show the lamination coin on the first photo, it was just the partial coin at the bottom of the picture, not the large coin front and center. You can tell the lamination is at the bottom by the T. Likely he just shared the wrong photo from a set.
. I see what the controversy was all about these are the original photos when I first took them I crapped some so I can get closer to lamentation error now as you can see it is the same coin but other 1938 with it as well for comparison maybe I should have made myself clear sorry for any misunderstanding I hope this puts your mind at ease
