1938 penny. Cud and date?

    Is that a CUD on the left side?

    And is the 3 and 8 of the date simply a little post mint damage?

    That or PMD. Hard to tell with the unclear photos.

    Definitely NOT a cud. Looks more like PMD to me than anything else. Clearer photos would help. I also see nothing out of the ordinary with the date.

    Looks to me like some sort of gunk attached to the coin.

    Well I thought gunk too but I am unable to scrape it off
