adverse? So we found 2 1938s that looked like theres doubling on the forehead chin and mouth his hair and his nose a little.. I will post pics of them then I'll post a pic of a regular nickle and you guys tell me what you think okie thanks everyone for always helping me. The 1986 nickle is just an example to see the doubling on the 1938 if that's what it is.
Good morning @Mikemsg The "heads" side of the coin is the "obverse." At least one of those 1938 nickels looks like it has some kind of doubling. I think it may be machine or strike doubling. Can we see the 'reverse' (tails side) of your coin, as well? I am not sure about the second 1938 nickel. You may be interested in this web site. I don't see your example shown there. http://varietyvista.com/04a JN DD Vol 1/DDOs 1938.htm I am not an expert and look forward to hearing their opinions. Enjoy the day!
It really isn't necessary to post comparison photos of another coin. Most of us do know what a Jefferson nickel should look like. As it stands, I don't see any hub doubling on your nickel. ~ Chris
Photos are a little out of focus but have a look at DDO 004 here: https://www2.briansvarietycoins.com/listings/view/336 Try to match the markers. Your photos were just a bit too out of focus. Good luck!
Here is the VV listing for the profile doubling: http://varietyvista.com/04a JN DD Vol 1/1938PDDO008.htm
