I have been on this sellers case about him trying to sell a coin as a proof that to me appears to be an early die state business strike intended for general circulation. He continues to relist it even after eBay has agreed with me. This is an educational post, not to name the seller, but to learn to tell the difference between a proof nickel by the rim characteristics. The seller says this coin came out of a proof set. That proves nothing as anyone could assemble a set of 1938 coins and put them in a Capital plastic screw-down holder for proofs and sluff them off. It may have even been an honest mistake along the way but I'd like to see the rest of that set. Notice on the top and middle left images that the rim is rounded and the rim slopes downward into the field of the coin that is misrepresented. On the bottom and middle right the rim is sharp and square and has right angles at the edge and leading into the field from the top of the rim.
