Today I got $60 in nickels at my local bank, and I could tell from the first roll that there were some goodies. First, let's establish what I call a find: a pre-1964 nickel (including silver), a BU 1982 or 1983, a very worn piece (miscellaneous), 2009s, current year coins, and proofs. In total, I had 80 finds, one of which was a 2009-D, and in roughly the 25th roll, a 1938 was peeking at me from the obverse. I was definitely elated to find one, as it seems to be a popular date despite a high mintage, making it an awkward but rewarding semi-key. I guess that's what I get for roll hunting for 2 years!
Hey, it's even nicer with REO Speedwagon! I think they're quite a good band. Now the changes that need to roll in are 1939 and 1950 mintmarked nickels, preferably with Ds. Thank you! It was definitely an unexpected bump in the road. Tell me about it! The other major series starter I've found is a 1909 Lincoln cent, sadly without an S or a VDB, but in VG condition. Now I need one series ender, that being the - 1912-S.
