Hi All - thanks so much for the thoughts and advice. Yes, @johnmilton you are spot on. The whole collection was stored in an attic for at least 10 years and probably 20. The collection was put together over a period of decades - 1940's through early 1980's
Hi All - several folks - @Pickin and Grinin, @potty dollar 1878 and @Collecting Nut wanted to see the full reverse will all 4 legs. It is shown below - any additional thoughts?
Do the surfaces look like they have any protected luster left? I am just trying to read the luster on the coin. There are a few of the deeper gouges present with the moth eaten back leg. The surfaces although corroded in spots look like they could have been smoothed over, and had metal moved around. Things look good enough to me to say it is worth the price to have an ICG opinion, You might even ask to have it conserved if it can be helped. I would get @desertgem opinion first. I have looked but never found one that I fancied. I did get to see a 36D 3 and a half leg once.
I certainly cant tell if the "D" is there or not as there is a dark sploch right on top where it would be. There is a possibility as if I close my eyes and open very fast, I see something
The last close-up photo shows that this a 1937-D three legged Buffalo Nickel. The bad news is that the coin is severely damaged.
I think there will still be buyers at a lower price. I would send it to ICG and ask them to do what they can for it. It might hover around $500 +/- as they are not abundant. IMO, Jim
You might list it on https://www.usacoinbook.com/ or just check out previous sell prices. One can join and then post coins on it. Jim
