I just recently moved, and I just unpacked my collection. Upon searching through I realized one of my 1937D nickels has the Buffalo missing its back leg. I always knew the Buffalo to be missing the front leg? Any opinions on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
WOW very nice this is a very unique 3 legged buffalo better than the original lol.I think it could be worth certificationtruly wow wait for more to see it looks like the real deal to me.
Thank you! I was definitely excited to find it, especially because I’ve had it for a while. Any advice on where I could send it in for certification? I appreciate your time!
The reverse is a rather small photo. My first thought was either grease or damage as the surface doesn't have the apparent smooth surface as on the front leg area. Jim
That’s about as close as I can get without it blurring lol I agree there’s some noise in the negative space for sure, I haven’t looked at it under the microscope as of yet, but when I do I’ll definitely post pics!
Try setting your cellphone on a can and taking a photo that way . Then use a program like PhotoScape and crop Pic. please . Thanks !
The 1937-D was made by the mint as an error with 3 legs. The die was over polished and the front leg is missing. This makes me think someone tried to remove the leg to make a 3 legged Buffalo but they did the wrong leg. It could also be a grease filled die but I don’t think so.
I guess my late night excitement will be put to rest lol will a close up do i just croped it down more.
It’s getting late and my eyes are tired from the days business but does that area look like it’s been tooled?
