1937 buffalo nickle "LIBERTY" letter doubling and strange mint mark !!

Discussion in 'Error Coins' started by Nick Chiappetta, Apr 27, 2019.

  1. Got this out of luck from a gentleman that was not interested in this particular coin. I have no idea why ....but I will take it. Lol. Everytime!! Think "LIBERTY" has some doubling and the Mint mark looks to be a "F" or was supposed to be a "P" but it is not a complete "P" any and all information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all :)

The F is for the designer James Fraser

Most likely Die Deterioration. When the die deteriorates, the design is squeezed towards the perimeter from the center area. Jim

  10. Aight. That's kinda neat for sure. Makes it harder to identify letter doubling also. Unless we are talking about a 1955 wheat penny. Lol
    Thanks Mr. Jim :)
