1937 British half-penny - Proof? Polished?

    lookibg for some input on this '37 1/2 penny. Is it a proof strike or does it just look this way as the result of an old polish?

    Tough call. Proof? Maybe. Polished at some point in time? Certainly!

    hmmmm.... I have a 37 proof. I'll take some photos when I get home this weekend.

    Beautiful coin and the color is fantastic. It does appear to have some rounding and the appearance of maybe a coin care cleaning. Still like the details of the coin. Better condition then most.

    The appearance of the fields of the coin don't look like a proof to me.

    Agreed. The portrait side especially. Taken alone, the ship side is quite nice.

    Not proof. Definitely.
    Someone has rubbed it about woolen fabric. For example: in Siberia some use a valenok for polishing coins (it is our traditional footwear when winter is too cold).
