As-is, with the hole, it's only worth the melt value of the silver ($4.59 as I type this, deducting a tiny bit from that for the lost metal).

Even without the hole, in Fine to VF condition as shown, it would only have been a $7.00-7.50 coin anyway.

    Here is the Numista page.

Here is the Krause/Numismaster/NGC page, with values.

A 2-shilling coin is also called a florin, as you may have known.

These are only 50% silver (.500 fine).

well that's better than nothing . It holds greater worth in sentimental value as my Uncle who was in WW2 , brought it back with him. Here's a couple better pics. It weighs 10.95 g . 1937 florin-obv-tile.jpg

Definitely a keeper, then. Start yourself a holey coin hat! [IMG]

"Holey" coins are a fun and affordable way to collect cool old stuff without breaking the bank. You can make a wearable collection, like I did (if you're enough of a nutjob- haha), or you can get a cork board and some map pins and display the collection that way.

Or I could fill the hole. Not .

Nah. No use in plugging the hole. It's part of the coin's history.

    Definitely
use it as the start to a fun holey coin collection. :)
