A 1938 is common as mud in higher grades? Hmm, I don't see as many as I would expect if we compare to the much lower mintages of currency Wreath crowns of slightly earlier (1928-36) vintage and also saved. Maybe I'm not looking at the same sources? Ebay? Major auctions? I guess I mean in the MS63 or above as I'd stated.

Forget ebay etc...It is just common sense....A fraction of 1938's were made to 1937's...Therefore they would have been kept on drawers...That goes without question high grades are easily found. On top of that 5 shillings ion the 1930's was a weeks groceries so who could afford just to put them away..

Yes, I hear that bit, but unfortunately also as it represented a lot of money many were turned in, I have read, and not sure how many actually made it out there to start with. PCGS have around 30 graded in MS63 and only 5 at 64 with none higher - not that this is the end-all but does seem to show they are not all that common in higher grades.

Another thing is if there is no one out there that wants them, then they are not worth a thing...that goes for all collctibles
