Hey I noticed this “w” shape under the D in dollar on this 1934 Peace Dollar. I couldn’t find any VAM attribution and was wondering if anybody had seen this before? thanks in advance!

It's damage. You can see exactly how it was hit and where the metal moved to.

Damage from another reeded edge coin. Most likely another 1934 PD.

Ah, I can see how that would happen. Thanks for the help!

How much does this lower the grade of the coin? Does it give the coin an UNC details grade?

It's a really minor hit. It won't get the coin a details grade.

Frankly, I think the details grade would be fair, but from a cleaning.
