The Georgetown University Philodomic Society ventured to St. Mary’s in 1852, the Calvert monument was erected in 1890, and a celebration of the 275th anniversary was held in 1909.</p><p><br /></p><p><b>The Tercentennial Commission</b></p><p><br /></p><p>The Tercentennial Commission was established in 1927 by Governor Ritchie.
